Privacy Policy

Coratelle is a product being built by one person. It’s in closed beta — this site is a single page describing what’s coming, and the only thing it does is let you register your interest in the next round.

We’re not a registered company, so there’s no company number or registered office to give you. We’d rather say that plainly than pad this page out with details that don’t exist yet. If that changes, this page changes with it.

When you register interest, we’re what data protection law calls the “controller” of your personal information. That means we decide what’s collected and what happens to it — and we’re responsible for looking after it.

Very little, and deliberately so. There’s one form on this site and nothing to log into.

When you register interest

Your email address, and whether you’re signing up as an individual or as an agency or team. That’s the whole form — no name, no company, no phone number, nothing we didn’t need to put you on the list and know which round you belong in.

If you agree to analytics

If — and only if — you say yes in the cookie banner, we collect information about how this page is used: what was viewed, roughly how long for, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location based on your IP address. If you say no, none of it is collected. Our Cookie Policy sets out exactly which cookies are involved.

When you email us

If we’ve been in touch about your place in a round and you reply, we keep the thread — your email address and whatever you’ve written in it — alongside your registration.

Technical logs

The providers who host this site keep standard technical records — things like IP addresses and error logs — as part of running it and keeping it secure. That happens on any website, ours included, and it isn’t something we look at to learn about you.

What we don’t collect

There’s no product to log into yet, so nothing you’d eventually put into Coratelle exists here — no client work, no files, no share records. We don’t take payment on this site, we don’t run a general mailing list, we don’t advertise to you afterwards, we don’t buy personal information from anyone else, and we don’t ask for anything sensitive.

We don’t publish a contact address while this is still a landing page. An inbox nobody is watching is worse than admitting there isn’t one, and we’d rather not promise a reply we can’t give.

What that leaves is a real route, not a dead end. When your place in a round opens, we email you directly — that email comes from a person, and replying to it reaches us. That’s how to ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, and we’ll act on it whether or not you want the place.

When Coratelle opens beyond the closed beta, a published contact address will replace this section. Until then, if you want to raise something you can’t wait on, the Information Commissioner’s Office route under “If You’re Unhappy” below is open to you at any time.

Data protection law says we have to have a specific, legal reason (“lawful basis”) for every use of your information. Here’s ours, in full.

We don’t sell your information and we don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing. The list of people who touch it is as short as we can make it:

• The providers who host this site, run its database and store its files. They hold the information on our behalf and act on our instructions, and can’t use it for their own purposes.
• Google, if you agree to analytics cookies — through Google Analytics. Google collects the usage information on our behalf and reports it back to us, and under Google’s own terms Google may also use it for its own purposes. That’s exactly why we ask your permission first rather than treating it as routine. It’s the only third party involved in any tracking on this site, and it doesn’t run at all unless you say yes.
• Regulators, the police or other public bodies, where we’re legally required to hand something over, or where we have to in order to establish or defend a legal claim.

If Coratelle becomes a company, or the product is ever transferred to someone else, the interest list would move with it — and we’d tell everyone on it before that happened, not after.

Your registration is held in this site’s own database, on infrastructure run by the providers described above. Some of that infrastructure sits outside the UK, including in the United States.

Google Analytics is the clearest example: if you agree to analytics cookies, some of that usage information is transferred to and handled by Google in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Wherever information leaves the UK, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires — the provider’s certification under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum where that doesn’t apply.

If you’d rather no information about your visit went beyond the UK at all, decline analytics cookies. That’s the only transfer this site makes that’s in your hands.

We don’t keep things indefinitely just because they’re easy to store. These are the periods we work to.

We take sensible, proportionate steps: the site runs over a secure connection, the admin side is behind a login only we hold, accounts are protected with strong unique passwords and two-factor authentication where the provider supports it, and we keep the software this site is built on up to date.

No system is perfect, and we won’t pretend otherwise. If something ever went wrong and your information was at risk, we’d report it to the Information Commissioner’s Office where we’re required to, and tell you directly if it was likely to be a serious risk to you.

Data protection law gives you a set of rights over your information. Exercising any of them is free, and we’ll respond within one month. See “How to Reach Us” above for the route.

• Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Have it corrected if it’s wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete it. There’s nothing here we’re legally required to keep, so on this site that means what it sounds like: your registration goes.
• Ask us to pause using it while we look into a query you’ve raised about it.
• Object to us using it, where we’re relying on our legitimate interests.
• Ask us to transfer it to you or someone else in a portable format, where we’re relying on your consent and it’s handled by computer.
• Withdraw your consent at any time, where we’re relying on it — that’s your place on the list, and analytics cookies. You can change your cookie choice whenever you like from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page, and withdrawing consent doesn’t affect anything done before you did.

We don’t make any decisions about you by automated means, and we don’t profile you.

Every cookie this site sets, and how to change your mind about them, is in our Cookie Policy. The short version: one cookie to remember your answer, and Google Analytics only if you say yes.

If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, tell us first if you can — replying to any email from us reaches a person, and we’ll look into it properly and come back to you as quickly as we reasonably can.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator, at any point. You don’t have to come to us first.

This page will change as Coratelle does — when the product opens, when there’s a company behind it, when there’s an address to write to. We’ll update the page and the date at the top. If it’s a significant change and you’re on the list, we’ll email you rather than leave you to spot it.
